PROJECT SAFE CITY
Full Description:
Project Safe City is a program that gives the private sector, and members of the community a chance to work with local law enforcement in solving crimes.
When a case is not solved within a reasonable length of time, leads diminish the case becomes more and more difficult to solve. Oftentimes, people have information about a crime without being aware of it, witnesses may not contact authorities because of fears, and others may just not know who to contact.
Project Safe City allows law enforcement agencies to raise public awareness by using the television and the media to make known to the public what "Crime of the Week" is. A reward of up to $1,000 could be awarded to citizens who can offer up information that can lead to the arrest or incrimination of suspects. The amount of the reward will be determined by the Board of Directors based on the crime involved and the information the investigator receives.
A special 24 hour phone line has been established to connect the caller with someone who can take their information to the appropriate person with utmost anonimity.
If you have any information regarding any unsolved crime, call (507) 285-8200. If you are interested in donating to the reward fund as a business owner or citizen of Rochester you may contact the Chairman of the Board, Jerry Watson at (507) 288-4444 or contact the crime unit at (507)285-8288.
